To Tax A strip Club or Not to Tax
Our friends in Texas are having a hard time with this taxing thing, in case you haven't heard legislation passed a while ago requesting Strip Clubs a per visitor tax of $5. The law was meant to fund programs assisting victims of sexual assault (wich is a noble cause), but Club patrons complain that they should not be the only ones being taxed, normal clubs and bars should also be taxed.
The tax law was declared unconstitutional, but still the local goverments wan't to collect the tax because if the ruling is reversed, clubs might have to pay regardless.
So far more than 12 million dollars have been collected on taxes, if the law is indeed confirmed unconstitutional then Treasures in Houston should get a fat check back for over $700,000 they already paid in taxes but it seems like most clubs are not paying.
We wonder if any of that money has actually gotten to a victim of sexual assault, or is it all being spent on lawyers and lobbysts.
